AI 3D Tools and Nigeria’s Creative Businesses: What counts as a deliverable?

A convincing 3D preview can win a client’s attention. Delivering the asset behind it requires a different conversation: where will the model run, which details must be accurate, and who will correct it if the receiving system displays it differently?

For a Nigerian creative business taking on digital display or interactive content work, those questions belong in the quotation. AI-generated 3D models introduce another production option, but the commercial outcome depends on the work between generation and acceptance.

Define the Job Before Choosing the Tool

Consider a hypothetical brief for a browser-based promotional scene. The client wants an original decorative object that visitors can rotate. The studio must supply the model to a web developer who will integrate it into an existing page.

The deliverable needs more definition than “one 3D model.” Agree on the object’s appearance, permitted viewing angles, intended devices, delivery format and review process.

Clarify whether the asset represents an actual product or an invented design. A fictional object offers room for interpretation. A product representation needs verified proportions, features and branding.

Also distinguish the asset from the surrounding experience. Supplying a model does not automatically include building the viewer, hosting the file or maintaining the website.

Make Acceptance Observable

Write acceptance criteria around what the recipient can check. “High quality” offers little guidance when the artist and client mean different things.

For the promotional scene, the parties might agree that the model must open in the named viewer, retain approved materials and remain responsive on specified test devices.

These criteria should be settled before the studio promises a final price. They also help separate a defect from a new request.

Place AI Generation Within the Production Budget

Once the brief is clear, the studio can decide how to produce the first version. Meshy, an AI 3D model generator, generates meshes from text or reference images that artists can inspect and develop further.

That makes generation one stage in the job. The selected result may still need changes to hidden surfaces, silhouette, materials or geometry before it satisfies the brief.

Test one representative asset before pricing a larger collection. Record which problems are quick to correct and which require substantial rebuilding.

A useful pilot ends with an asset running in the intended viewer. Counting generated alternatives alone provides little evidence about the cost of delivering an approved result.

Track the Work That Follows Selection

Preserve the selected generation and edit a separate working copy. Record the changes needed to meet the brief.

For a rotatable object, the rear and underside deserve attention because users can expose them. An attractive front view does not compensate for an implausible back.

Materials need similar scrutiny. Check whether a dark patch belongs to the intended surface or is an unwanted lighting effect embedded in a texture. Inspect fine details at the viewing distance the audience will use.

When simplifying geometry, compare versions in the destination environment. Keep the features that establish the object’s identity and examine texture stretching or shading changes after reduction.

Validate the File, Then Test the Experience

For glTF or GLB delivery, the Khronos glTF Validator checks supported aspects of compliance with the glTF specification and reports detected issues.

Resolve relevant errors and investigate warnings before handover. Save the report with the asset version so the developer knows which file was checked.

Validation has a defined scope. It does not establish that the object matches the client’s reference, loads quickly enough on every device or has appropriate usage rights.

Open the delivered file in the actual viewer and repeat the agreed tests. Check rotation, materials, orientation and responsiveness. If the project depends on mobile access, include the specified phones and connection conditions in that review.

Quote for Revisions and Integration

A fixed fee should state how many review rounds are included and what each round covers. A colour adjustment and a redesigned silhouette create different workloads.

Identify who handles integration problems. If the file passes the agreed checks but the website uses an unsupported material feature, the studio and developer need a process for resolving that incompatibility.

Record model preparation, testing, client review and handover separately in the internal estimate. For international work, document the payment currency, milestone amounts and any agreed responsibility for transfer charges.

Avoid promising savings from generation speed alone. Compare the total labour needed for an accepted asset with the alternative production method available to the studio.

Keep Permission and Licensing Attached to the Asset

Obtain permission before uploading confidential client designs or third-party reference material. A client’s possession of an image does not automatically establish permission for every proposed use.

Close the Job With a Reproducible Handover

Deliver from a clean folder and ask the receiving developer to open that copy. This exposes missing resources or dependencies hidden on the artist’s machine.

For creative businesses evaluating AI 3D tools, that is the meaningful measure: a clearly specified asset, tested in its intended setting and handed over with the information required to use it.

Questions to Settle Before Signing

Who approves the model?

Name the client representative responsible for visual approval and the person responsible for technical acceptance. They may be different people.

What happens when the client changes the destination platform?

Assess the new requirements before confirming price and delivery. An asset prepared for one viewer may need additional work elsewhere.

Does a successful preview complete the job?

Completion depends on the agreed scope. If editable files, integration testing or licence records are included, those remain part of delivery.
