AKA and Tibz murder trial postponed to April 2027 as seven accused remain behind bars

The seven men accused of murdering rapper AKA and his friend Tibz will remain in custody until their trial resumes in April 2027.

The murder trial of seven men accused of killing South African rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and his friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane has been adjourned to April 2027, with all seven accused remaining in custody.

Durban High Court adjourned the matter on Thursday, following weeks of proceedings during which the State presented evidence from more than 20 witnesses.

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirmed that the trial is scheduled to resume on April 12, 2027.

KwaZulu-Natal NPA spokesperson Ramkisson-Kara said the trial, which began in early October 2026, has seen prosecutors present various forms of evidence as the State continues building its case against the accused.

“Evidence presented thus far includes video footage, vehicle-tracking data, ballistic evidence and financial evidence,” she said.

The seven accused are Lindokuhle Thabani Mkhwanazi, Lindani Zenzele Ndimande, Siyanda Eddie Myeza, Mziwethemba Harvey Gwabeni, Lindokuhle Lindo Ndimande, Siyabonga Gezani Ndimande and Malusi Dave Ndimande.

According to Ramkisson-Kara, the accused face several serious charges, including conspiracy to commit murder, two counts of murder, multiple counts of attempted murder and firearm- and ammunition-related offences.

Forbes and Motsoane were shot and killed outside a restaurant on Florida Road in Durban on February 10, 2023.

The case will return to the Durban High Court next year, when the State is expected to continue presenting evidence against the seven accused.

“The matter has been adjourned to 12 April to 14 May 2027 for the continuation of the trial and the presentation of further evidence in the State’s case,” Ramkisson-Kara confirmed.

“All seven accused will remain in custody.”
