<p>Gates, a co-founder of <a href="/quotes/MSFT/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Microsoft</a>, in his June 10 testimony, expressed regret about his contacts with Epstein, which he said were designed to win financial support for the Gates Foundation, his philanthropic venture.</p>
<p>"I should never have met with Epstein in the first place," Gates told members of the <a href="https://oversight.house.gov/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">House Oversight and Government Reform Committee</a>, according to the <a href="https://oversight.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Bill-Gates-Transcript.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">transcript</a>.</p>
<p>Gates said he never saw Epstein participating in criminal conduct. Prosecutors have said the late money manager sexually abused scores of underage girls and young women.</p>
<p>The House panel also on Tuesday released a <a href="https://oversight.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Lesley-Groff-Transcript.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">transcript</a> of the June 9 testimony by Epstein's former executive assistant, <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2026/06/09/epstein-lesley-groff-house-oversight-committee.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Lesley Groff</a>.</p>
