Chatsworth family claim police raid home for drugs without warrant after son’s murder
A Chatsworth family mourning the murder of their son alleged plain-clothes police raided their home without a warrant and mocked them when no drugs were found.
Ethan Cole Krishna was reported missing on September 29. His family alerted police and sought assistance from Renegade Search and Rescue.
His battered body was discovered on Nerissa Road, in Brighton Beach a day later, on September 30, by a passerby.
Two weeks later, on October 15, which was Ethan’s birthday, the alleged police raid was conducted.
Ethan’s father, Rakesh Krishna, claimed that about eight to ten plain clothes policemen entered his Croftdene property at around 8.30am, in search of drugs.
“They entered my yard and went immediately to search my son, Jamin who was chatting with his friends. They said that they were looking for drugs. They said they belonged to some team and received a tip-off that a guy called Shaylan was selling drugs at our house,” claimed Krishna.
He said no drugs were found and that no-one named Shaylan lived at his home.
He said his wife Sharon was furious with the police and asked them to investigate Ethan’s murder rather than harassing them.
“Their attitude was one of mockery. They had no search warrant. We were mourning our son. We were very angry that they came into our property saying someone was selling drugs,” said Krishna.
He said his family were yet to report the matter to the Independent Police Investigative Directorate
(IPID) because they were struggling to come to terms with their son’s murder.
Krishna said they had no feedback from police about the investigation.
“We want justice and the person responsible for my son’s death to be punished.”
The police did not comments by the time of publication.
