The Radisson Blu Hotel, Durban Umhlanga, raised R345,000 for breast cancer support organisation PinkDrive during its annual Whispers of Hope Breast Cancer Awareness High Tea on Saturday, October 24.

The event brought together guests, sponsors and members of the Durban community for an afternoon of storytelling, entertainment and fundraising in support of breast cancer awareness.

Curated by the hotel’s Marketing Manager, Fara Hamid, the high tea featured moments of reflection, laughter and generosity, highlighting the power of community support for a meaningful cause.

Radio and television personality Carol Ofori hosted the afternoon as master of ceremonies, while Maeshni Naicker brought humour and energy to the live auction, helping to create an engaging atmosphere for guests.

One of the afternoon’s most poignant moments came when breast cancer survivor and guest speaker Sophia Alley shared her personal journey. Her story offered guests an opportunity to reflect on the realities of living through breast cancer and the importance of support throughout the journey.

The R345,000 raised for PinkDrive marked a significant contribution from the event, with the strong turnout and generosity of attendees, sponsors and supporters underscoring Durban’s commitment to breast cancer awareness.

The annual Whispers of Hope high tea continues to bring people together around a shared purpose, using conversation, personal stories and fundraising to support a cause that affects individuals and families across South Africa.
