During the meeting, Dr. Ali El-Ghamrawy reviewed the Egyptian Drug Authority’s efforts to advance its regulatory and oversight framework in accordance with the latest international standards and best practices. He also highlighted the Authority’s achievements in regulating medical products, overseeing pharmaceuticals, medical supplies and medical devices, and enhancing the quality, safety, and efficacy of healthcare products.

Dr. El-Ghamrawy emphasized that the Egyptian Drug Authority places great importance on strengthening cooperation with sister Arab countries, driven by its belief in the value of integration and knowledge exchange in supporting the development of pharmaceutical and regulatory systems and building institutional and technical capacities. Such cooperation contributes to achieving pharmaceutical and healthcare security and promoting sustainable development across the region.

For his part, Dr. Mohammed Al-Ghouj praised the significant progress achieved by the Egyptian Drug Authority in the regulatory and oversight fields, emphasizing the importance of benefiting from Egypt’s expertise and expanding areas of joint cooperation to support the development of Libya’s healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors.

The two sides also discussed opportunities to enhance technical and regulatory cooperation between healthcare and regulatory institutions in both countries. Discussions covered mechanisms for leveraging Egyptian expertise in pharmaceutical regulation, registration of medical products, inspection activities, and pharmacovigilance, in addition to supporting capacity-building programs and the qualification and training of technical personnel working in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors.

The meeting further addressed ways to strengthen cooperation in ensuring the availability of medicines and medical supplies and supporting institutional integration between the two sides to help meet the needs of the healthcare sector and improve the quality of healthcare services provided to citizens.

Both parties also explored prospects for cooperation in the field of medical devices and supplies and discussed benefiting from the Egyptian Drug Authority’s regulatory and technical expertise in developing relevant oversight frameworks, thereby supporting the alignment of regulatory procedures with international best practices and standards.
