Gospel star Nozipho Phiri sets date for debut album launch in Johannesburg

<p>South African gospel vocalist Nozipho Phiri will launch her debut album <em>Essence of Faith</em> in a live setting on July 17 at Goshen City Church in Johannesburg.</p>
<p>According to a press release from her management team, “the evening, open to the public and media, marks an important milestone in her journey as a solo artist.”</p>
<p>Best known for her work with Joyous Celebration, Phiri now presents a deeply personal body of work shaped by years of musical growth, ministry and lived experience.</p>
<p>“More than a performance, <em>Essence of Faith</em> is a deeply personal musical offering shaped by Phiri’s journey of faith, resilience and calling. Rooted in scripture and lived experience, the album explores themes of surrender, restoration and trust in God, reflecting both her ministry and artistic identity.”</p>
<p>The album will feature songs including <em>Wangithula</em>, described as “a Zulu phrase meaning ‘God took the burden from me’”, alongside her earlier single <em>Uyalalela</em>.</p>
<p>“Together with her earlier single Uyalalela, the music reflects a season of personal breakthrough, where moments of hardship were met with faith and renewal. Each track is crafted to connect with audiences seeking authentic, spirit-led gospel music.”</p>
<p>The press release further states that Phiri’s sound blends contemporary gospel with church-rooted expression, shaped by collaborations with established gospel artists.</p>
