“At about 13:00 hours, the Kano State Fire Service received a distress call from Hamisu Muhammad reporting that a young man had fallen into open water at Dan Agundi,” the Kano State Fire Service spokesman, Kabiru Jafar, stated in a statement on Monday.
“Upon receiving the distress call, our team immediately mobilised to the scene of the incident.”
“The rescue team launched a search operation upon arrival and retrieved the victim, identified as Sani Uba Kwaru, from the water in an unconscious state”, Mr Jafar said.
He added that following the tragic event, the fire service cautioned residents against unsafe activities around unprotected water bodies.
“The Kano State Fire Service urges members of the public to exercise caution around open water and other potentially dangerous areas,” Mr Jafar added.
