KZN premier says election proceeded without major incidents

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli has applauded the provincial residents for ensuring that November 4 elections were peaceful and fair.

Speaking to the media at KZN results operation center on Friday afternoon, Ntuli said residents of the province conducted themselves in an orderly manner.

Ntuli started with a walk about at the centre to check everything was in order.

"We are happy with conduct of our people in the province during and after elections, although incidents will always be there. We glad that our elections did not encounter any major incidents," he said.

Ntuli congratulated the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) for hosting successful elections.

"Even though there are issues of discussions for engagement, but we salute IEC for its professionalism in holding the successful elections in various places. We do not have reports in our province, which signifies that there are major issues," he said.

Ntuli said he was also cheerful with the arrangements made and the progress of the elections.

"KZN's IEC head Ntombifuthi Masinga has informed me that they are above 80 percent on capturing results. This is quite progressive and we are happy," he said.
