Lauren Dickason to appeal conviction for the murder of her three daughters in New Zealand
<p>Lauren Dickason, the woman found guilty of killing her three daughters shortly after emigrating to New Zealand, is planning on appealing her conviction. </p>

<p>Lauren Dickason, the woman found <a href="https://iol.co.za/news/crime-and-courts/2024-06-26-i-loved-lian-maya-and-karla-with-all-my-heart-says-lauren-dickason-as-she-is-sentenced-to-18-years-for-killing-her-three-daughters/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">guilty of killing her three daughter</a>s shortly after emigrating to New Zealand, is planning on appealing her conviction. </p>
<p>According to the RNZ, a New Zealand publication, Dickason's appeal will be heard early next year, months before she is eligible for parole. </p>
<p>She intends to argue that there has been a miscarriage of justice, RNZ further reported. </p>
<p>The appeal will be heard in Wellington on February 9, 2027. </p>
<p>The <a href="https://iol.co.za/news/world/2023-07-21-laura-dickason-trial-i-think-god-is-trying-to-torture-me-by-giving-me-the-noisiest-kids-ever/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">South African woman</a> made international headlines for the murders of her daughters, six-year-old Lianè, and two-year-old twins, Maya and Karla.</p>
<p>The three girls were killed on September 16, 2021, just weeks after the family emigrated.</p>
<p>The 43-year-old was found guilty by a New Zealand court in August 2023.</p>
<p>She was sentenced to 18 years in a mental healthcare facility. </p>
<p>Dickason, a medical doctor by profession, pleaded not guilty to charges of murder by reason of insanity.</p>
<p>During the trial, the court heard how Dickason was scared of the unrest and violence in South Africa and how they had been sleeping with a 9mm calibre firearm beside the bed.</p>
