SASSA announces earlier November 2026 grant payment dates
SASSA has brought forward selected November 2026 grant payments ahead of the local government elections on November 4.
Millions of South Africans who rely on social grants will receive their payments earlier than usual in November, following a decision by the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) to adjust its payment schedule ahead of the Local Government Elections on November 4.
The revised dates are intended to ensure beneficiaries continue receiving their grants without unnecessary disruption during the election period.
In a statement, SASSA said the changes followed consultations with various stakeholders to ensure payments were administered efficiently and securely.
National Treasury has approved the revised schedule, paving the way for the agency to implement the new arrangements.
Under the revised timetable, older persons will receive their grants on Friday, October 30, followed by disability grant beneficiaries on Monday, November 2.
Children's grants will be paid on Tuesday, November 3.
SASSA said the adjustment was aimed at ensuring the smooth administration of payments during the period surrounding the elections.
“The agency remains committed to ensuring that eligible beneficiaries receive their grants in an orderly and reliable manner,” the statement read.
The agency has also urged beneficiaries whose grants are under review to respond to official communications and attend review appointments when requested.
A separate payment date has been set for Thursday, November 5, for beneficiaries whose grants fall within the review process.
SASSA has cautioned beneficiaries against visiting its offices unnecessarily, saying payments will be processed according to the revised schedule.
Beneficiaries have been encouraged to consult the agency's official communication channels for accurate information and to be cautious of misinformation and disinformation surrounding social grants.
SASSA reiterated its commitment to protecting the integrity of the social assistance system while ensuring that millions of South Africans who depend on these grants continue to receive support.
