Reports about the couple’s separation emerged in February after claims surfaced that Desola moved her belongings out of their matrimonial home.
However, neither Afod nor Desola addressed the reports publicly or confirmed the separation until the actor spoke about it during an interview on Kasnasty Sugar, posted on YouTube on Thursday.
Although Afod did not offer a detailed account of what transpired between them, he identified jealousy, infidelity and trust issues as some of the problems that affected their marriage.
Responding to questions about the separation, the actor spoke in parables but suggested that both partners had cheated during the marriage.
He said: “Regarding the separation between my wife and me, my profession is so demanding that we hardly have time for our family. Do you want to hear the truth? I apologise to all the women here. People often accept that men cheat. However, no man cheats with a tree; he cheats with a woman.
“It is easier for a woman to be a lesbian than for a man to be gay. If you have a wife who is very close to her female friends, be careful because you could be in danger. Women cheat with other women more than they sleep with men who are not their husbands.”

Sex toy
The actor further highlighted what he perceived as unequal expectations between partners over the use of bedroom toys.

He wondered why a woman would have no reservations about asking her husband to buy them for her but would object to finding out that he also uses them.
“It is easy for a woman to persuade her husband to buy her a dildo because she claims she does not want to cheat. She will buy the first, second and even third dildo, but what she is doing amounts to cheating with a sex toy.
“Why is she not satisfied with just one dildo? That, too, can be regarded as adultery. The same woman who confidently uses a dildo may not take it lightly if she catches her husband using sex toys, he added.
The estranged couple started their relationship in 2002 and exchanged marital vows in 2005. The marriage produced children.
