ZIMBABWE have booked their place in the Davis Cup Africa Group IV promotion play-offs after defeating Angola 2-1 in their final Pool B round-robin tie in Nairobi, Kenya.
Ronan Mtisi handed Zimbabwe a perfect start, overcoming Emerson Pedro in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 to give his side an early advantage.
Angola responded in the second singles match, with Daniel Domingos producing a dominant display to defeat Courtney Lock 6-2, 6-2 and level the tie.
With the contest finely poised, Zimbabwe turned to the experienced doubles partnership of Courtney Lock and Ronan Mtisi, who delivered when it mattered most.
The pair defeated Daniel Domingos and Emerson Pedro 6-3, 7-6 to secure the decisive point and seal victory for Zimbabwe.
The result sees Zimbabwe finish top of Pool B and progress to the promotion play-offs, where they will face the second-placed team from Pool A on Saturday.
A victory in the play-offs would move Zimbabwe a step closer to promotion as they continue their quest for advancement in the Davis Cup Africa Group IV competition.
