AmaZulu edge Kruger United to reach Carling Knockout quarter-finals

AmaZulu FC are through to the last eight of South Africa’s League Cup, the Carling Knockout Cup tournament. This is after they beat Kruger United 1-0 at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Sunday afternoon.
Hendrick Ekstein came off the bench and netted the only goal of the match from the penalty spot following Tavengwa Tatenda’s handball.
AmaZulu travelled to the Mbombela Stadium to face Kruger United, and they came into this match high in confidence following their blistering start into the new campaign. They are 3rd in the Betway Premiership standings with six wins, one draw and one loss in their eight matches.
On the other hand, the home side endured a torrid period before getting into the groove as they sit in position 12, with seven points after eight matches.
The two sides were not holding back from the onset, keen to open the scoring.
After surviving a few nervous moments, Kruger took the match to the visitors.
The two teams were still level pegging at goalless at halftime and with just a quarter of an hour to go, Usuthu won with a penalty, and the solitary goal proved to be the decider as the Arthur Zwane-led troops advance to the quarterfinals.
