Burkina Faso Severs Diplomatic Relations With France

Burkina Faso's military junta, headed by Captain Ibrahim Traoré, announced the termination of diplomatic relations with France on Friday. This decision marks a significant rupture between the country and its former colonial administrator.
The ruling authorities justified the move by accusing Paris of consistently acting in a manner contrary to Burkina Faso's interests. Specifically, the junta alleged that France has provided support to militants in the Sahel region as well as subversive networks.
This diplomatic break reflects a broader trend of the current leadership distancing the nation from its traditional Western allies.
