Rockstar Games Confirms GTA VI Physical Editions Will Lack Discs

Rockstar Games has officially announced the pricing and distribution details for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI. The title is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. The standard edition of the game will be priced at $79.99, while an Ultimate Edition will be available for $99.99.
In a move that signals a shift in physical media, Rockstar confirmed that physical versions of the game will not include a disc. Instead, these physical editions will contain a download code inside the box. This means the game is effectively download-only, regardless of whether a customer purchases a digital or physical copy.
Pre-orders for the title are set to begin on June 25, 2026, at midnight local time. Both digital and physical versions will allow players to begin pre-loading the game starting November 12, 2026, ensuring they can play immediately upon the official launch date.
Customers who pre-order or buy the game before November 20 will receive the Vintage Vice City Pack, which includes a weapon skin, outfits, hairstyles, and a '55 Vapid Stanier sedan and garage. Those who pre-order digitally will also receive one free month of the GTA Plus subscription service.
The Ultimate Edition, priced at $99.99, will offer additional digital content integrated into the story of the game's protagonists, Jason and Lucia. This includes exclusive in-game stores as well as premium apparel, weapons, and vehicles.
The game is set in Vice City, a fictional version of Miami, Florida, within the state of Leonida. The plot follows Jason and Lucia, a duo forced to rely on one another after a heist goes wrong, leading them into a conspiracy across the state.
