Patriotic Alliance faced media bias during campaign: Mckenzie

Patriotic Alliance leader Gayton McKenzie says his party has faced what he describes as media bias during its election campaign. McKenzie was speaking after casting his vote at Norman Doubell voting station in Heidedal, Bloemfontein. Despite what he views as unfavourable media coverage, McKenzie says he remains confident that the party will perform well in the 2026 local government elections.
“I am not going answer your question. You know, there’s some media that’s really not against us, to be honest with you, that we just, it’s just, we’ve had a worse campaign when it comes to media bias. But, yeah, we’ll do well. We’ve got to be one of the best parties, you must watch the space .”
Meanwhile, ActionSA leader and Johannesburg mayoral candidate Herman Mashaba has urged South Africans, particularly black voters, to turn out in large numbers to cast their ballots.
Mashaba spoke to SABC News at the Sandton Fire Station before casting his vote on Wednesday.
He says black voters have the numbers to determine who becomes Johannesburg’s mayor and the country’s president.
Mashaba has urged voters not to stay at home and allow others to decide their future.
“So, I’m really pleased that they’re coming out like we did with apartheid to vote it out. So, I believe and I hope that our people are going to come out in their numbers because as black people we’ve got the numbers to decide who must become the mayor of the city of Johannesburg. We have the numbers to decide who becomes the president. So please people of South Africa particularly my fellow black people, don’t sit back at home and think that you’re not going to vote because other people are going to decide for you.”
ActionSA President and Johannesburg Mayoral Candidate, @HermanMashaba, addresses members of the media ahead of casting his vote.
Johannesburg, the unfinished business of fixing our City awaits. Let’s Do It Again!
