If you're looking to get a little extra out of the Switch Online + Expansion Pack service, Nintendo is currently offering a free bonus month. This offer applies to Switch 1 & 2 users in the US when purchasing or redeeming a 12-month individual or family membership of the premium tier before 28th July 2026.
Existing Switch Online + Expansion Pack members can also redeem this bonus month by renewing their membership or adding another year. Switch Online members can also upgrade to the Expansion Pack tier to unlock this offer.
Once you've activated it, the bonus month will automatically be added to your account within 3 business days. Certain other locations and countries, such as Australia, are also currently offering an extra two months when you buy or renew a 12-month membership.

Nice! I’m up for renewal anyway.
Liam Doolan, can you please add a page that tracks from Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2, and Super Mario Bros. 3 have been added to Mario Kart World's Free Roam on the Nintendo Music app yesterday evening?

Mine's up for renewal in October but I'll probably go ahead and pick up a year of it before the offer runs out.
@Jason_Feiner I think last week, they posted an article on Thursday about both updates. Are you just eager to have the word spread about these new tracks?

Really shocking Nintendo hasn't increased the price of their NSO subs yet. Somehow we have ended up in a place in our society where the NSO subscriptions are some of the best value subscription services on the market.
![]()
Ah dang, I just renewed early a few days ago. I guess I could buy another year, especially since the price can only go up.
![]()
With some of the crazy promotions and sales you see from other game companies, it's almost charming the kind of tiny offerings Nintendo often treats as special deals. That said, NSO is a pretty great deal by default, so you really can't complain about any bonus they want to stick on top of that.
![]()
And just how many NSO games were presented on the recent Nintendo Direct ? ... and the time-limited DK Challenge Mode does NOT count !
![]()
I need to renew in a few weeks. Admittedly, I didn’t use much of the perks of Expansion Pass this year. A little Luigi’s Mansion here, a bit of Rayman 2 there, a couple nights of the Virtual Boy and the occasional Warioware. Even with that extra month, I’m not sure if I’d get the value’s worth.
![]()
@Scarmucci You know they would've just dropped Nuts & Milk for the Famicom and very little else.
![]()
@Jason_Feiner While we're at it, there was also nothing on Nintendo Life about the games that were only announced during the Japanese version of the Direct last week.
![]()
@Scarmucci Yeah, I thought we would get Super Mario Sunshine.
And with the Ocarina announcement, I suppose the GC NSO app won’t be getting Twilight Princess anytime soon. 😬
![]()
@LastFootnote Literally in same boat. Renewed after lapsing for a long time because of the DK stuff, and I knew in the next year my wife would want to play Wind Waker, so I took the re-upped. What a bummer to not get that free month. 😕
![]()
@DwaynesGames You're getting NUTS & MILK!!!

![]()
It’s a pretty cheap service and you get what you pay for. But adding Virtual Boy to the monthly rotation lowered the value of the service. Especially since they still haven’t released Mario Sunshine despite advertising it at launch.

I got two extra months just a week or so ago. I wonder if it was only in Europe or even something more specific 🤔
![]()
For the last three years, I have got mine off Ebay for around 10 quid a year all in with the same supplier each year and absolutely no problems so an absolute bargain
![]()
@Scarmucci The updates have listened to a crawl at this point. We're not even surefire getting one every month! 😂
But then again: I use Nintendo music daily, nothing is as fun multiplayer as the N64 lineup and I'm yet to even play most great games they added. So I never regret having that pass!
![]()
@AussieMcBucket These tracks were added yesterday, not last week.
@ToniK The extra two months free offer also applies to Australia and NZ this month. Only offering one extra month to the Americans is big "shrinkflation energy" on display.

There's a similar, actually even better as it's 2 extra months, offer here in Europe available until the end of June, I've already got it myself - anyway, hope those subscribing for the first time or continuing their subscriptions thanks to this will enjoy what NSO has to offer (also reminder that you can get it for even less by sharing a family subscription with friends and/or acquaintances, I'm paying around €10 per year for the Expansion Pack that way)!

I’ve just had something like this coming through on my email, just with a different time window, so it must be there for Europe as well.
It says you need to activate Automatic Renewal during the purchase for the extra time to take hold, but I’ve already got that on - so I might have a crack at turning it off, then reactivating it. Mine’s almost due for renewal anyway, so if the next date shows up as August instead of June 2027, it’ll have worked. I shall update accordingly.
@Liam_Doolan
Update: It worked!! Just got the email confirming - checked on the console, and the extra time has been applied! So yeah - anyone in Europe who’s set to automatically renew soon, check your emails - there might be something in there. Knock off the auto renewal, stump up for another 12 months in the eShop and reactivate the auto while doing so, and boom - free sub bonus!

This was good timing, just had to renew mine. Australia so got the two extra months; I won't complain.
Apart from a handful of Gamecube games, what did they add in the past couple of years? Any free DLC at all?
@Wewewi they added the Switch 2 Upgrade Packs for Zelda Breath of the Wild, and Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. Donkey Kong 64 recently got added, many other Nintendo Classics games would also have been added to those collections over the past 2 years, you can look on Nintendo's website to see the list of games for each console. the SEGA Mega Drive / Genesis NSO collection will also have had some games added in that time.
*edit: FYI there are now 9 games in the GameCube Nintendo Classics collection.
*edit: they also added Virtual Boy

It’s way most cost efficient to buy a year from a 3rd party. You don’t get the free months but it still works out way cheaper per month.
Gift cards (bought on sale) can also save funds when renewing. Some stores have always 10% off and others sometimes go on sale at 15% off.
It did say you have to "activate" the offer. Would be nice they provided the link above to the offer page so people can see and hit the activation.
Edit: free month has already been added.
@BTB20 Ah, my wording was confusing. I meant that was what they did for last week's tracks. I suspect they may do the same thing for this week's tracks, including the ones you're concerned about.
@jco83 A trifle. =/
@Wewewi what a strange coincidence ! that word "trifle" seems to be seeking me out recently ! in completely unrelated areas of life ! 😮 serendipitous
