England Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt Aims for T20 World Cup Semi-Final Return

England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt is working toward a return for the T20 World Cup semi-finals after suffering a recurrence of a left calf injury. The all-rounder was forced to retire hurt on 48 not out during England's four-wicket win against Ireland in Southampton on Tuesday.
Following scans on Wednesday, it was confirmed that Sciver-Brunt suffered a strain in the same muscle she had previously injured during a domestic match on April 29. As a result, the 33-year-old captain has been ruled out of England's upcoming group stage matches against Scotland and the West Indies.
Katherine Sciver-Brunt, the retired England great and wife of the captain, stated she is "99 per cent" confident that Nat will be fit for the semi-finals should the team qualify. She noted that the captain is utilizing various recovery methods, including hyperbaric chambers and magnetic fields, to accelerate her healing.
While her availability for the final group match against New Zealand on June 27 remains uncertain, Katherine indicated that Nat is determined to play, stating, "She'll play injured, it just depends on how injured."
In the captain's absence, all-rounder Charlie Dean will take over leadership duties for the matches against Scotland and the West Indies. Dean is experienced in this role, having previously led England to T20 series victories over India and New Zealand earlier this summer.
To fill the gap in the batting order, Sophia Dunkley is expected to join the starting XI. England remains in a strong position at the top of Group 2 with two wins from two matches, which may provide the necessary leeway for their captain's recovery before the semi-finals on June 30 or July 2.
