A South African man has been arrested in the United States on charges relating to the possession and sharing of sexually explicit images of children.
Vico DuToit was arrested in Grady County, Oklahoma. He faces eight counts of possession of child sexual abuse material and one count of violating state law through the use of a computer.
Court documents state that the investigation began after authorities received three separate cyber tips.
According to KSWO, DuToit reportedly admitted to the allegations when questioned by investigators. He also allegedly acknowledged that he knew his actions were wrong.
Investigators allege that he possessed, shared and posted multiple pornographic images involving children.
DuToit is being held on a $500,000 bond, equivalent to approximately R8.3 million. He is expected to appear in court in November.
The allegations have not been tested in court. DuToit is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
