The Nigeria international struck in both halves of the first period to put Galatasaray in control before the break, helping the reigning title contenders return to the summit of the Turkish Super Lig and extend their unbeaten run against Fenerbahce to five consecutive league meetings.
With the pressure mounting in a fiercely contested derby, Osimhen once again demonstrated his value to Galatasaray’s title ambitions, combining sharp movement with clinical finishing to make the difference against their city rivals.
The 27-year-old opened the scoring in the 29th minute, capping a well-worked attacking move after receiving a pass from Baris Alper Yilmaz. Osimhen showed composure inside the penalty area before directing his effort into the bottom corner, leaving the Fenerbahce defence with little opportunity to recover.
The goal gave Galatasaray the early advantage in a match where the smallest details were always likely to prove decisive. Osimhen, however, was not finished.
Five minutes before the interval, the Super Eagles striker struck again to double his side’s lead. Davinson Sanchez saw his effort heading towards goal, and Osimhen reacted sharply to redirect the ball into the net in the 44th minute.
His second goal handed Galatasaray a commanding 2-0 advantage heading into half-time and placed Fenerbahce under considerable pressure ahead of the restart.

Osimhen continued to trouble the opposition after the break as Galatasaray looked to strengthen their grip on the contest. The Nigerian forward remained a constant threat in the attacking third, while the hosts also came close to extending their advantage through Ismail Jakobs.
Both players went close with headers that struck the woodwork, denying Galatasaray the opportunity to put the result beyond doubt and leaving the door open for a Fenerbahce response.
That opening became more significant in the 62nd minute when Irfan Can Kahveci produced a spectacular bicycle kick to reduce the deficit to 2-1.
The goal injected fresh life into the contest and set up a tense final period, with Fenerbahce searching for an equaliser and Galatasaray forced to protect the advantage established by their Nigerian striker.
Despite the mounting pressure, Galatasaray held firm to secure all three points and claim a crucial victory in the battle for domestic supremacy.
Osimhen’s clinical display makes the difference
Beyond his two goals, Osimhen’s overall contribution reflected the influence he exerted throughout the encounter.
The striker registered seven shots, three on target, converting two into goals. He completed seven of his 10 passes and recorded 25 touches as he remained actively involved in Galatasaray’s attacking play.
He also competed in individual duels, winning two of his four ground duels and two of his four aerial contests.
While his stats highlighted his involvement across the pitch, his finishing ultimately separated the two sides. Osimhen made his opportunities count at crucial moments, giving Galatasaray the cushion they needed to withstand Fenerbahce’s second-half fightback.
His brace further underlined his importance to a Galatasaray side pursuing another successful league campaign, particularly in a fixture where the result carries significance beyond the three points on offer.
Galatasaray return to the top as Fenerbahce struggle
The victory marked Galatasaray’s fourth win in their last five matches across all competitions, providing a timely boost to their title challenge and restoring them to the top of the Turkish Super Lig.
The win also extended their recent dominance in the Intercontinental Derby, with the club now unbeaten in their last five Turkish Super Lig meetings against Fenerbahce.
For Fenerbahce, the defeat represented another setback in a difficult run of league results. They remain fifth in the standings after managing just one victory in their previous four league matches.
Although Kahveci’s spectacular strike ensured a tense finish, Fenerbahce were unable to find the equaliser needed to deny their rivals a significant result.
For Galatasaray, Osimhen’s two goals proved decisive in a derby that could carry considerable weight in the title race. The Nigerian forward delivered when his team needed him most, helping his side reclaim top spot while strengthening their recent advantage over one of their fiercest rivals.
