China Restores Seafood Ban Amid Rising Tensions With Japan
Relations between Japan and China have deteriorated following remarks made in November 2025 concerning the security of Taiwan. In response to these comments, China has brought back its ban on seafood imports from Japan.
The diplomatic friction has extended to travel, with China issuing advisories that have led to the cancellation of flights.
In a separate diplomatic development, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi traveled to China for the first time in seven years. His visit to attend a Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit signals a period of detente between the two nations.
