McGregor and Holloway Trade Insults Ahead of UFC 329 Rematch

Conor McGregor and Max Holloway have engaged in their first face-to-face confrontation ahead of their scheduled rematch at UFC 329. During the encounter, McGregor asserted that he would once again defeat Holloway and leave the fight unscathed, claiming he could potentially box his opponent with his hands down.
McGregor specifically addressed the narrative that Holloway was merely a child during their first meeting in 2013. He dismissed the idea that Holloway's subsequent success as a featherweight champion diminishes his original victory, stating that he calmly dominated the fight in Boston and intends to repeat that performance.
In response, Holloway welcomed the return of McGregor and introduced the "Mystic Max era." He countered McGregor's claims by stating that several gloves would be laid on McGregor's face during the bout. Holloway further suggested that if he wins, he would be open to an immediate rematch before the end of 2026 to settle the score.
The fight is set for July 11 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas as part of International Fight Week. This event marks McGregor's return to action after a five-year absence caused by a severe leg injury sustained in 2021.
Holloway expressed excitement for the challenge, noting that while he is typically less vocal, he is ready to engage in verbal sparring with McGregor. He indicated that he is seeking a finish rather than a long fight.
Industry veterans have weighed in on the matchup, with some suggesting McGregor's best chance for victory lies in an early knockout. Former fighters Dustin Poirier, Chris Weidman, and Jorge Masvidal have expressed skepticism regarding McGregor's odds, with some suggesting he has a very limited window to secure a win against the high-volume striker.
