Jigawa State Approves Millions for Greenhouses and Infrastructure Compensation

The Jigawa State Government has approved the construction of 20 Type II greenhouses across 10 local government areas at a total cost of ₦273,293,272.50. This initiative is intended to boost youth livelihoods and enhance food security by enabling year-round agricultural production.
According to Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture Sagir Musa, the project aims to consolidate training already provided to 82 youths. These individuals received instruction in modern soilless farming techniques at the Soilless Farm Lab in Abeokuta.
The beneficiary local government areas include Birnin Kudu, Gumel, Kafin Hausa, Gwaram, Kirikasamma, Jahun, Malam Madori, Roni, Taura, and Sule Tankarkar.
In addition to the agricultural investment, the State Executive Council approved significant compensation payments for citizens impacted by urban development. Shop owners affected by the remodeling of the Kafin Hausa Market are set to receive ₦337,365,450.00.
Furthermore, the government approved ₦757,286,297.50 for structures affected by the construction of township roads in Doko and Dangyatin. These payments are part of the administration's effort to balance infrastructure development with the welfare of affected communities.
Governor Umar Namadi chaired the State Executive Council meeting on Monday, June 22, 2026, where these decisions were reached. Commissioner Musa stated that these approvals reflect the administration's priority to ensure inclusive development and youth empowerment.
