Kelsey Plum Sidelined for Four Weeks With Lower Leg Injury

The Los Angeles Sparks have confirmed that Kelsey Plum will be sidelined for a minimum of four weeks. The team announced on Wednesday that the star guard is dealing with an injury to her lower left leg and will be re-evaluated after the four-week period to determine her return date.
Plum's injury became apparent during a recent game against the Liberty, where she struggled and required her left leg to be taped and re-taped throughout the contest. This latest setback follows a season where she had already missed time in May due to a right ankle sprain.
Despite her health struggles, Plum has been producing at an elite level. In 12 games this season, she averaged 23.9 points and 6.4 assists per game, marking career-best figures. Her standout performance came against the Phoenix Mercury on June 14, where she scored 43 points to tie the franchise single-game scoring record.
The timing of the injury is particularly challenging for the Sparks, as the four-week timeline likely rules her out of the All-Star Game scheduled for July 25 at the United Center in Chicago. The team's offense has relied heavily on Plum and veteran Nneka Ogwumike to maintain an 8-8 record and stay competitive in the playoff race.
Los Angeles is now facing a significant depth crisis, as the news of Plum's injury comes shortly after Cameron Brink was also ruled out for several weeks with a left ankle sprain. The team, which has one of the league's worst defensive ratings, must now find a way to maintain its offensive momentum without its leading scorer.
Plum joined the Sparks during the 2025 offseason via a trade from the Las Vegas Aces. Her absence leaves a void for a franchise that has been striving to return to the playoffs for the first time since 2020.
