LPPC Shortlists 89 Candidates for 2026 Senior Advocate of Nigeria Rank

The Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee (LPPC) has announced a shortlist of 89 applicants for the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) for the 2026 conferment cycle. The list includes 77 candidates from the advocate category and 12 from the academic category.
According to Kabir Eniola Akanbi, the Secretary of the LPPC and Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, these candidates advanced after passing several rigorous stages. These included law office inspections, independent appeals hearings, and multiple filtration exercises for both advocates and academics.
Notable names on the shortlist include Olaide Akinseye-George, the Vice President of the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies, and Habeeb Akorede, a former spokesperson for the Nigerian Bar Association. Akpomosingha Osuobeni, the Director of the Legal Department of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, is also among the candidates.
The LPPC has invited the general public to provide feedback regarding the competence, reputation, and integrity of the listed applicants. Any complaints must be submitted in 20 copies to the LPPC Secretary's office by July 15, 2026.
To ensure validity, the committee requires that every complaint be accompanied by a verifying affidavit. This document must be deposed to before a Notary Public or a Superior Court of Record in Nigeria. Alternatively, comments can be submitted via the committee's official email address.
Secretary Kabir Eniola Akanbi clarified that the publication of these names is intended for public scrutiny and does not guarantee success. The shortlisted candidates must still undergo a final interview stage and meet all other requirements stipulated in the LPPC Guidelines before the rank is conferred.
