Ogun State and Police Partner to Enhance Border Security and Surveillance

Ogun State has reinforced its commitment to improving security and border surveillance through a strategic partnership with the Nigeria Police Force. This collaboration was highlighted during a high-level security meeting involving the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) in charge of the South-West, Adegoke Fayoade.
Governor Dapo Abiodun was represented at the meeting by the Secretary to the State Government. The discussions focused on deepening the synergy between the state government and law enforcement to better protect the region and monitor its borders.
This initiative aligns with broader efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to strengthen regional oversight. Recently, Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu approved the deployment of DIGs to the six geopolitical zones to improve operational coordination and accountability across police commands.
As part of this strategic shift, the IGP has directed Commissioners of Police to begin coordinated inter-state patrols. These patrols are specifically designed to combat cross-border crimes and deny criminal networks safe havens.
In the South-West region, DIG Fayoade has emphasized the integration of technology into policing. This includes the use of artificial intelligence and a centralized data center to help predict security threats and identify crime hotspots before incidents escalate.
