Eight Hospitalized Following Coach Fire on Surrey M25

Eight individuals were transported to the hospital after a coach caught fire on the M25 motorway in Surrey. The incident occurred around 16:00 BST on June 19, 2026, near Leatherhead on the anticlockwise carriageway.
According to a spokesperson for the Surrey Fire and Rescue Service, all passengers and the driver were accounted for. Sussex Police confirmed that those on board the vehicle were able to disembark safely.
Witnesses at the scene described seeing large plumes of smoke and observed a line of people being led away from the burning vehicle. Another bus was reportedly parked in front of the coach during the incident.
South East Coast Ambulance Service deployed multiple crews to the scene between Junctions 8 and 9. After being assessed on-site, eight patients were taken to the hospital for further medical evaluations.
Firefighters utilized four fire engines and a water carrier to manage the blaze. Authorities reported that the fire caused damage to the surrounding area and the road, leading to significant traffic delays.
Drivers were advised by police to avoid the affected area and seek alternative routes while emergency teams worked to clear the scene.
