Amnesty International Accuses Sudan's RSF of Ethnic Cleansing in El Fasher

Amnesty International released a report on Wednesday alleging that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a paramilitary group in Sudan, engaged in ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity. These actions reportedly took place during the group's efforts to take control of El Fasher.
The report specifies that the RSF's campaign to seize El Fasher occurred between 2024 and 2025. According to the findings, the paramilitary forces deliberately targeted children during their operations in the region.
El Fasher serves as the capital of North Darfur state. The allegations from Amnesty International contribute to a growing body of evidence regarding atrocities committed in the city.
The United Nations has also weighed in on the situation in El Fasher. The UN has stated that the violence in the area bore the hallmarks of genocide.
The findings highlight a pattern of severe human rights violations as the RSF sought to establish control over the strategic city. The report's release on Wednesday brings further international attention to the humanitarian crisis unfolding in North Darfur.
The allegations focus on the systematic nature of the attacks and the specific targeting of civilian populations during the paramilitary group's offensive. These claims align with broader concerns regarding the conduct of the RSF during the ongoing conflict.
